We ponder. We innovate. We design. We amaze.
In their new adventure together with Rusty Raven Studio, Damon and Melissa Travis look forward to sharing their art as well as supporting art and artists in the Puget Sound community. Working in many mediums, you’ll always find something new and different when you visit. Their combined experience and creativity brings an exciting element that we believe will keep you coming back to our gallery. Damon and Melissa look forward to meeting you.
Melissa Travis was born in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up loving the arts and spent her high school years at The Chicago Academy for the Arts. There she studied as a Theatre Major with an emphasis on drawing and design. Later Melissa studied at The American Academy of Art in Chicago. She moved to the Seattle area in 2001 after meeting Damon. Melissa volunteers her time and talents teaching youth both visual and musical arts. Currently, Melissa is the co-chair of the Art Docent Program at their daughter’s elementary school. This is a volunteer run program through the Interurban Center for the Arts, which brings quality art lessons to our elementary schools. She also volunteers for Rain City Rock Camp as a Drum Instructor and Band Coach. Melissa is an active musician, currently in two bands, Root 5, andLavender Lucy. She plays drums, mandolin, guitar and enjoys a little singing now and then.
Damon Travis is native to the Puget Sound region. He got his creative start early spending time in the woodshop at a very young age with his dad. He continued developing his craftsmanship and woodworking skills at school and in grandpa’s basement. It was during high school Damon discovered his love of graphic arts and screen printing and pursued that. Later after working in the exhibit and graphics industry for several years, he discovered an interest in blending his woodworking skills and graphics experience. Damon now enjoys combining interesting materials to produce unique multimedia creations.
